White House Caught Flat-Footed When Asked About Trump's Gift Advice
The White House was put on the spot yesterday when asked how billionaire Donald Trump can advise average Americans to limit their kids' Christmas gifts, given his own lavish holiday celebrations.
During a press conference, a reporter pointed out that Trump has been known for splurging on expensive gifts for his children and grandchildren, including a $3.5 million private jet for one of his sons. The reporter asked how the President can expect families to be frugal when he's clearly not practicing what he preaches.
White House spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany struggled to respond, saying only that "the President is committed to being responsible with taxpayer dollars" and that his own spending habits are "not relevant to the issue at hand."
What Do You Think?
- Do you think it's hypocritical for Trump to advise Americans to be frugal when he himself has a history of lavish spending?
