What Americans Think About Trump's First Year Back in Office

In a recent survey conducted by the Associated Press and NORC at the University of Chicago, Americans shared their thoughts on President Trump's first year back in office.

The poll results show that public opinion remains sharply divided along party lines. Here are some key takeaways from the survey:

• 71% of Democrats disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president, while 93% of Republicans approve.
• 58% of independents say they disapprove of Trump's performance, but this number drops to 46% when asked about his handling of specific issues like the economy and healthcare.

It's worth noting that these results are consistent with trends seen in previous surveys, where public opinion has remained polarized along party lines. But what about Americans who don't identify as partisans? How do they feel about Trump's first year?

• Among those who have given up on Trump, a quarter say it's because of his policies, while half cite concerns over his character and behavior.

While the poll doesn't offer any surprises in terms of party affiliation, it does highlight some interesting trends. For example, among independents who disapprove of Trump, many are most concerned about the economy (63%), healthcare (55%), and national security (46%).

The survey also found that 65% of Americans think Trump has done more to divide the country than unite it.
