Up to 200 mm forecast as atmospheric river hits West Coast
The West Coast is bracing for a deluge of rain, with some areas expected to receive up to 8 inches (200 mm) over the next few days. An atmospheric river, a long, narrow channel of moisture-rich air, is bringing heavy precipitation to the region.
Residents in California and Oregon are advised to prepare for flash flooding and possible landslides as the rain pounds down on already saturated soil. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for several counties, with some areas expected to receive over 5 inches (125 mm) of rain per hour.
Crews are on standby in affected areas, ready to respond to emergencies as needed. "We're expecting a lot of rain, and we want people to be prepared," said a spokesperson for the California Department of Transportation.
Staying safe during heavy rainfall
- Stay indoors and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.
- Avoid walking or driving through flooded areas.
- Keep an eye on weather forecasts and sign up for emergency alerts from your local government.
We recommend having a portable power source, like our popular 1200N.M Torque Brushless Electric Impact Wrench (compatible with Makita 18V batteries), on hand in case the power goes out. And if you're planning to venture out, make sure to bring a reliable light source – our AP03 Left Driver Side Fog Light Driving Lamp Assembly is a great option for Lincoln MKZ owners.
