Trump Tariffs Live Updates: US to Impose Tariffs on Chinese Chips in Mid-2027; Hassett Says $2K Rebate Checks 'Likely'

It's been a busy few days for international trade news, with the US government announcing plans to impose tariffs on Chinese semiconductor chips starting mid-next year. According to reports, the move is part of a broader effort to counter China's alleged IP theft and unfair trade practices.

• The proposed tariffs would target various types of semiconductors, including memory chips and central processing units (CPUs).
• China has threatened to retaliate against US exports in response to the tariffs, which could have significant implications for industries reliant on Chinese components.

While we wait for the specifics of this trade development, there's some good news from Larry Kudlow and his team. Speaking at a White House press briefing, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett confirmed that stimulus checks are indeed in the works – with many expecting a $2,000 rebate per household.
