Trump Tariffs Live Updates: US to Impose Tariffs on Chinese Chips in Mid-2027; Hassett Says $2K Rebate Checks 'Likely'

The Trump administration is getting back into trade headlines, and this time it's all about tariffs. According to reports, the US will impose tariffs on certain Chinese semiconductor chips starting mid-2027.

• What does this mean for consumers? It could lead to higher prices for electronics, computers, and other gadgets that rely on these chips.
• The White House has hinted at a broader trade deal with China, but this move suggests they're willing to take a tougher stance if negotiations stall.
• Meanwhile, Larry Kudlow, the National Economic Council director, has spoken out about the tariffs. He claims it's all part of a 'long-term strategy' to protect American industries.

But that's not all - there are also whispers of rebate checks coming our way. According to Hassett, up to $2,000 in stimulus money could be on its way to American families.

• This move is seen as a nod to the struggling economy and a way for the administration to boost consumer spending ahead of the holiday season.
• While it's still unclear when these checks will arrive or what they'll look like, one thing is certain: Americans could be getting some much-needed cash in their pockets soon.
