Trump Tariffs Live Updates: Where Could Revenues Go and How Much Are Households Losing?

The ongoing trade tensions between the US and its major trading partners have been making headlines for months, with President Trump's tariffs being a major point of contention. But have you wondered what the revenue generated from these tariffs could be used for? According to recent statements from the White House, the answer is quite varied.

The administration has floated at least 9 different possibilities for how tariff revenues could be spent, including paying off national debt, funding infrastructure projects, or even creating a new defense fund. While some of these ideas might seem promising, others have been met with skepticism by critics who argue that tariffs are ultimately hurting American households.

What's the Impact on Households?

New numbers from Democrats suggest that tariffs have already cost each American household around $1,200 since 2018. That's a significant amount of money, and one that could add up quickly for many families. So where is this money going? The answer lies in higher prices for imported goods, which are being passed on to consumers.
