Trump Tariffs Live Updates: Trump Floats 'Some' Additional Tariff Carveouts; US Unveils $12B Farmer Bailout

In a move that's left many in the business world scratching their heads, President Donald Trump has floated the idea of adding more exemptions to his trade tariffs. The move comes as the administration tries to soften the blow for American farmers who've been hit hard by retaliatory measures from countries like China.

Speaking at a White House event, Trump said that "some" additional tariff carveouts might be on the table. While he didn't elaborate further, the move is seen as an effort to appease critics who say his tariffs are hurting American businesses and consumers.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Agriculture has announced a $12 billion bailout package for farmers affected by the trade war. The plan includes direct payments to farmers, as well as funding for programs that help them diversify their crops and find new markets.

It's worth noting that this move comes just as American farmers are facing their toughest time in years. With crop prices plummeting due to a combination of factors including the trade war and weather conditions, many farm families are struggling to make ends meet.

Aid for Farmers: What Does it Mean?

• The $12 billion bailout package is part of a broader effort by the administration to mitigate the impact of its trade policies on American farmers.
• The plan includes direct payments to farmers, as well as funding for programs that help them diversify their crops and find new markets.

While some critics have questioned the need for a bailout, others see it as a necessary step to support farm families who are doing their best in tough circumstances. After all, agriculture is a vital sector of the US economy – and farmers play a crucial role in feeding America's growing population.
