Trump Tariffs Live Updates: Democrats Say Tariffs Have Cost Each American Household an Extra $1,200; Trump Floats 'Some' Additional Carveouts

The ongoing trade tensions between the US and other countries have been a hot topic of discussion for months now. And it seems like the controversy is far from over. The latest update in this saga comes as Democratic lawmakers claim that President Donald Trump's tariffs have cost each American household an extra $1,200.

• According to estimates by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), a left-leaning think tank, the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods since 2018 have resulted in a significant increase in prices for consumers.
• The EPI claims that this price hike has disproportionately affected low-income households, who are more likely to spend a larger portion of their income on essential goods such as food and clothing.

However, it seems like the Trump administration is not ready to budge just yet. In a recent press conference, President Trump floated the idea of "some" additional carveouts for certain industries or products that could be exempt from the tariffs.

This move has sparked both praise and criticism from various quarters. While some see this as a positive step towards resolving the trade tensions, others are skeptical about the potential benefits and worry about the impact on American businesses.
