Trump Tariffs Live Updates: Democrats Say Tariffs Have Cost Americans Almost $1,200; Trump Floats 'Some' Additional Carveouts

The ongoing trade war between the US and China has been a hot topic of debate in recent months, with the latest update coming from President Trump's administration. According to reports, Democrats are saying that tariffs imposed by the White House have cost American consumers almost $1,200 per household.

This staggering figure is based on an analysis of data from the Peterson Institute for International Economics, which found that tariffs on imported goods have led to higher prices and reduced purchasing power for US households. The study suggests that these costs are most heavily felt by low- and middle-income families, who are forced to spend a larger portion of their income on everyday essentials.

In response to criticism from Democrats, President Trump has floated the idea of additional carveouts – essentially exemptions or special deals for certain industries or products. While details are scarce at this point, experts believe that any such move could have significant implications for US trade policy and global markets.

As the situation continues to unfold, it's worth considering the long-term effects of tariffs on American consumers and businesses. The costs associated with these duties can be substantial, from higher prices on everyday goods to reduced economic output and job losses.
