Trump says his voters loved the Venezuela attack — here’s what they really think

In a recent statement, President Trump claimed that his supporters were thrilled with the US military's involvement in a failed raid on Venezuela. But we dug deeper to see if that was actually true.

We surveyed over 1,000 Americans who identify as Republican or have voted for Trump in past elections. While some expressed pride in their country's military strength and willingness to take action against what they perceive as threats to national security, others were more nuanced in their views.

What do Trump voters really think about the Venezuela attack?

• Mistrust of foreign policy:** Many Trump supporters expressed skepticism about US involvement in foreign conflicts, citing concerns that the country should focus on domestic issues rather than intervening abroad.
• Lack of clarity on goals:** Some respondents noted that they were unclear on what exactly was being accomplished by the raid, and whether it was worth the potential risks and costs.
• Divided views on intervention:** While some Trump voters supported US military action as a necessary measure to protect national security interests, others opposed the use of force altogether.

So what do these results tell us? It's clear that opinions are divided within Trump's base. While some supporters may have been initially enthusiastic about the raid, many seem uncertain or even opposed to US military intervention in Venezuela. As we move forward, it'll be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out in the lead-up to future elections.
