Trump DOJ Files Bonkers Motion to Keep Epstein Files Sealed

The Department of Justice (DOJ) under former President Donald Trump has filed a motion to keep sealed thousands of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's associates, sparking outrage among victims' advocates and free press organizations.

Epstein died in his cell while awaiting trial on federal charges in 2019. His death sent shockwaves across the nation and raised questions about the handling of sensitive cases by law enforcement agencies.

The Documents at Stake

• The files in question contain information about Epstein's associates, including high-society figures, politicians, and influential business leaders who may have had ties to the convicted sex offender.
• Many of these individuals are mentioned in documents produced by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former partner in crime, who is currently serving a prison sentence for her role in recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein's abuse.

The DOJ claims that releasing the documents could compromise ongoing investigations into Epstein's associates. However, critics argue that this motion smacks of an attempt to cover up the extent of Epstein's crimes and shield powerful individuals from accountability.

A Free Press Concerned

Veteran journalist Glenn Greenwald took aim at the Trump DOJ's actions, tweeting: "The government is trying to keep secret documents that might be embarrassing to powerful people. This has nothing to do with 'national security' or 'public safety'; it's about shielding the guilty."
