TikTok Finalizes U.S. Deal With Oracle

After months of speculation and negotiation, Chinese social media giant TikTok has finalized a deal with Oracle to address national security concerns over its operations in the United States.

The deal, which still requires approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), marks a significant development in the ongoing saga surrounding TikTok's presence in the country. As we reported earlier, TikTok had been under pressure to address concerns over data security and potential ties to the Chinese government.

Under the terms of the deal, Oracle will become the "trusted technology provider" for TikTok's U.S. operations, essentially taking control of the company's data storage and management within the country. This move is seen as a major concession by TikTok, which had previously resisted calls to cede control over its domestic operations.

The deal has been met with mixed reactions from lawmakers and industry experts, with some hailing it as a victory for national security and others expressing concerns over the potential implications for data privacy. One thing is clear: this deal marks a significant shift in TikTok's U.S. strategy, and we'll be keeping a close eye on its impact.
