This CEO laid off nearly 80% of his staff because they refused to adopt AI fast enough. 2 years later, he says he’d do it again

Imagine being told by your boss that nearly three-quarters of your colleagues are no longer needed on the job. That's exactly what happened at a tech firm in Silicon Valley two years ago, when CEO Matt Mochie laid off 78% of his staff due to their slow adoption of AI technology.

Mochie has been unapologetic about his decision ever since, and now he's even admitted that he'd make the same call again if given the chance. "I'm not proud of it," he said in an interview with our team, "but I had to prioritize the future of the company over the comfort of my employees."

The decision was met with widespread outrage at the time, with many experts and commentators labeling Mochie's approach as ruthless and short-sighted. But two years on, it seems that his gamble may have paid off.

• Despite the initial backlash, the company has since reported significant growth and a renewed focus on innovation.
• The remaining staff were tasked with leading the charge in adopting AI technology, which they've reportedly done with great success.

Mochie's comments have sparked a lively debate about the role of human workers in an increasingly automated world. While some argue that his approach was extreme and unnecessary, others see it as a necessary step towards survival in a rapidly changing industry.

We'd love to hear from you - do you think Mochie made the right call? Let us know in the comments!
