This 20-year-old lotto winner refused $1M in cash and chose $1,000/week for life. Now she's getting slammed for it

A lot of people would love to win a massive lottery prize, but how many would be willing to give up the cash upfront? For one young woman from California, the answer was no thanks. When she won $28 million in 2020, she made an unusual decision: she opted for a lump sum of $1,000 per week for life instead of taking the full amount.

At first glance, it might seem like a pretty sweet deal - after all, who wouldn't want to live on a guaranteed income of almost $52,000 per year without having to worry about taxes or investments? But as it turns out, not everyone is convinced this was the right choice for her.

• Some have criticized her decision, saying she's throwing money away by choosing a smaller payout upfront. They point out that with $28 million, she could invest in properties, stocks, or other assets that would generate even more income in the long run.
• Others are worried about her financial stability - after all, if something happens to her and she's no longer able to work, who will be left to support her?

The young woman has been facing a lot of criticism online, with some people calling her "irresponsible" or "reckless". But others are defending her choice, saying that it's all about personal preference and what she feels is best for her life.

As someone who loves to think outside the box, we have to admire this woman's willingness to take a different path. Whether you agree with her decision or not, it's clear that she's living by her own rules - and that takes a lot of courage!
