Tesla's Chief Designer Gets a Little Too Hands-On
It looks like Elon Musk's team at Tesla has its work cut out for it after the company's chief designer, Franz von Holzhausen, accidentally smashed one of their pricey Cybertrucks' windows. But instead of panicking, he's calling it a 'great marketing moment.'
The incident happened during a demonstration of the Cybertruck's 'armor glass' window, which is supposed to be shatter-resistant. Von Holzhausen decided to test its durability by throwing a metal ball at it - not once, but twice.
- Unfortunately for Tesla (and their wallet), the second ball shattered the glass into tiny pieces
- The Cybertruck in question costs a whopping $61,000, making this a rather expensive 'test' to run
- Von Holzhausen has been with Tesla since its early days and is known for his... enthusiastic approach to product demos
When asked about the mishap, von Holzhausen simply shrugged it off, saying "I'm glad we could show everyone how durable our glass is - even if it wasn't in the best way."
We can't help but wonder what other 'marketing moments' might be lurking around the corner for Tesla. In the meantime, maybe they'll consider adding some extra protection to their demo area?
