'Super Flu' Hitting These States the Hardest: Here Are the Symptoms

As flu season continues to spread across the country, a particularly potent strain is making headlines – dubbed the 'super flu.' With cases reported in over 20 states, it's essential for Americans to know how to spot the symptoms and take proactive steps to stay healthy.

The super flu, which has been linked to several hospitalizations and at least one death, appears to be most prevalent in the following states:

• California
• Florida
• New York
• Pennsylvania
• Texas

While no state is immune to the flu, these regions are currently seeing a higher concentration of cases. So what can you expect if you contract this particularly nasty strain? Common symptoms include:

• Fever over 102 degrees Fahrenheit
• Chest pain or difficulty breathing
• Extreme fatigue or exhaustion
• Sore throat and coughing

While these symptoms may sound frightening, the good news is that most people who contract the flu can recover with rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medication. However, if you're experiencing any of these symptoms or are at high risk for complications (e.g., older adults, young children, or those with compromised immune systems), seek medical attention immediately.

Staying healthy during flu season is more than just a good idea – it's essential. Make sure to get plenty of rest, wash your hands frequently, and avoid close contact with anyone showing signs of illness.
