Substantial' snowfall could hit Philadelphia area this weekend: NWS

Get ready for a winter blast! The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Philadelphia area, warning of potentially heavy snowfall this weekend.

According to the latest forecast models, up to 12 inches of snow could hit parts of the city and surrounding suburbs by Sunday evening. That's substantial enough to cause significant disruptions to daily life, so make sure you're prepared.

• Be prepared for power outages: Consider investing in a portable generator or battery pack to keep your devices charged
• Stay safe on the roads: Check the latest traffic updates and plan ahead if possible
• Maintain your winter gear: Make sure your snow blower, shovel, and other equipment are in good working order
