Storm leaves thousands in the South facing freezing temperatures without power. Here are the numbers

A severe storm swept through the southern United States, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake. The aftermath has left thousands of people without power, braving freezing temperatures in the dark.

• Over 100,000 homes and businesses lost electricity due to downed power lines and snapped poles.
• The hardest-hit areas include Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
• Freezing temperatures have dropped as low as -2 degrees Fahrenheit in some regions.

The storm's impact has been compounded by the region's aging infrastructure. As residents struggle to stay warm without power, many are turning to alternative sources of light and heat.

• Meteor-style starry sky lights can provide a cozy ambiance while keeping energy costs low.
• For those in need of a more substantial solution, portable generators and space heaters can offer relief from the cold.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but one thing is clear: this storm has left its mark on the region. As communities come together to support one another, residents are finding creative ways to cope with the aftermath.
