Storm leaves thousands in the South facing freezing temperatures without power. Here are the numbers

A severe storm has left a trail of destruction across the Southern United States, leaving tens of thousands of people without electricity and braving freezing temperatures.

According to reports from utility companies, over 200,000 households have been affected by the outages, with some areas expecting to remain in the dark for several days.

• Tennessee: Over 70,000 households without power
• Arkansas: Around 40,000 households affected
• Mississippi: At least 30,000 homes left without electricity
• Alabama: Over 20,000 households impacted

The harsh weather conditions have made it difficult for crews to restore power, with freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall causing hazardous travel conditions.
