Snowfall Falls Short of Predictions in Kansas; What We Got and What's to Come

Winter weather enthusiasts in Kansas might be feeling a bit disappointed as the latest snowfall report shows that the actual amount of snow was significantly lower than predicted.

A winter storm warning had been issued for parts of central and eastern Kansas, with forecasters predicting 4-8 inches of snow. However, by early morning, many areas were seeing less than half of that amount, with some spots receiving just a dusting of snow.

What We Got

• The Kansas City area saw around 1 inch of snow, with some areas reporting as little as a quarter-inch.
• In eastern Kansas, the city of Lawrence received about 2 inches of snow, while nearby Topeka got just over an inch.

While the actual snowfall was lower than expected, there's still more to come. A second storm system is moving into the region, and forecasters are predicting another 1-3 inches of snow through Tuesday morning.
