Sinkhole shuts down San Diego intersection

San Diego drivers are facing a major inconvenience after a massive sinkhole opened up on one of the city's busiest intersections, shutting down traffic for at least a day.

The sinkhole, estimated to be around 20 feet wide and 30 feet deep, appeared in the early hours of Monday morning in the intersection of 5th Avenue and C Street. City officials have confirmed that no injuries were reported, but several vehicles are trapped in the affected area.

According to eyewitnesses, the sinkhole seemed to appear out of nowhere, with some reporting feeling the ground shake just before it opened up. "I was driving home from work when I saw this huge crater in the middle of the road," said local resident Jane Smith. "It was like something out of a movie."

The cause of the sinkhole is still unknown, but officials are speculating that it may have been caused by a combination of factors, including heavy rainfall and poor infrastructure.
