Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary warns job seekers he'll throw your resume 'straight in the garbage' if you have bad WiFi
We've all been there - scrambling to get our online presence in order before a big job interview or networking event. But one thing that might just cost you the gig, according to Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary? Having bad WiFi.
O'Leary recently shared his thoughts on what turns him off when reviewing resumes and meeting with potential employees. And let's just say having a weak internet connection is right up there at the top of his list. "If your resume says you have great communication skills, but can't even bother to update your LinkedIn profile picture or make sure it loads quickly, that's just basic," he said in an interview.
"If I had to throw one thing away, it would be people who are not proficient with technology... People who don't understand how to navigate a website, how to use the internet properly. That scares me."
So what can you do to avoid O'Leary's trash heap? Make sure your online presence is up-to-date and professional - that means having a current LinkedIn profile (or at least making it look like one!), updating your resume regularly, and... having good WiFi.
It might seem obvious, but it's surprising how often job seekers get this wrong. And if you're someone who's constantly struggling with dropped connections or slow loading times, it might be worth investing in a reliable wireless adapter for your car - like our Wireless Carplay Adapter, which makes streaming to your car's screen a breeze.
But the key takeaway here is that having good tech skills (and a strong internet connection) is no longer just nice-to-have - it's essential. And if you're not showing potential employers that you're on top of these basics, you might be missing out on some big opportunities.
