Saudi Arabia 'Scales Back Plans for 100-Mile Desert Megacity' After Concerns Raised Over Billions Spent

Planned as a futuristic oasis in the desert, Saudi Arabia's $500 billion megaproject has hit some speed bumps. The ambitious plan to build a sprawling city covering over 100 miles of desert landscape has faced criticism and scrutiny from experts and locals alike.

The proposed city was meant to be a marvel of modern engineering, with towering skyscrapers and state-of-the-art infrastructure. However, concerns have been raised about the massive costs involved in bringing such a project to life, as well as its potential environmental impact on the region's fragile ecosystem.

• The scale of the project has been questioned by many experts, who point out that building a city of this size may not be feasible or sustainable. "It's like trying to create a mini-Manhattan in the middle of nowhere," said one critic.
• Funding issues have also come under the microscope. With estimates suggesting the project will require billions of dollars, many are wondering where the money will come from and whether it will be a worthwhile investment for Saudi Arabia's economy.

While the megacity's fate remains uncertain, one thing is clear: the world is watching to see how this massive undertaking plays out. Whether or not the project gets back on track, one thing is certain - we'll be keeping a close eye on developments in this fascinating tale of high-stakes engineering and politics.
