Nationwide Cheese Recall Carries Risk Of Death—Here's What To Know

A major cheese recall has been issued across the United States, affecting multiple brands and types of cheese sold at popular retailers like Walmart and Target. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are urging consumers to check their fridges and pantries for affected products, as they carry a risk of Listeria infection.

According to reports, over 600 cases of Listeria have been linked to the contaminated cheese, with 11 confirmed deaths. The outbreak is particularly concerning for pregnant women, young children, and people with weakened immune systems, who are more susceptible to severe complications from Listeria infections.

The CDC has identified several brands affected by the recall, including El Abuelito Cheese Corp., Amul Milkfoods USA Inc., and Maolechino LLC. The contaminated cheese products were distributed across the country through various retailers, distributors, and wholesalers.
