NASA makes final preparations for its first crewed moon mission in over 50 years
Get ready to blast off into the history books! NASA's Artemis program is gearing up to make a major milestone: sending astronauts back to the moon for the first time since the last Apollo mission in 1972. After months of preparation and testing, the agency has finalized its plans for the crewed mission, which aims to establish a sustainable presence on our nearest celestial neighbor.
The Artemis program is a massive undertaking that involves multiple partners, including SpaceX, who will be providing the Starship spacecraft that will carry the astronauts to the moon. The mission also includes a lunar lander developed by NASA in partnership with private companies like Blue Origin and Lockheed Martin.
The crewed mission is scheduled to launch as early as 2024, pending further testing and evaluation. Once on the moon's surface, the astronauts will conduct scientific experiments, explore the terrain, and test new technologies that could pave the way for future human settlements.
