After months of speculation and anticipation, a winner has finally come forward to claim the massive $983 million Mega Millions jackpot that was won in Georgia last year.

The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claimed their prize on Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta. The lucky individual matched all six numbers drawn on October 23rd to take home the enormous sum, which is one of the largest jackpots ever awarded in the state.

While the winner's identity remains a secret for now, lottery officials did confirm that they opted for a cash payout instead of annual payments, taking home an estimated $683 million after taxes.
