‘Morning Joe’ Host Loses It at Trump’s Bonkers Putin Claim
Tuesday morning's installment of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" was a wild ride, courtesy of none other than former President Donald Trump.
In a bizarre claim that had even the most seasoned journalists flabbergasted, Trump alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been a great leader and a friend to the United States. When host Mika Brzezinski asked for clarification on this assertion, Trump doubled down, insisting that Putin's leadership was second to none.
Joe Scarborough, co-host of "Morning Joe" and never one to mince words, lost his cool at this point, firing back with a scathing rebuke. Calling Trump out for his obvious admiration of authoritarian regimes, Scarborough declared that Putin is nothing but a "thug" who has been responsible for some of the most egregious human rights abuses in modern history.
The exchange between Scarborough and Trump was, as one would expect, quite heated, with the two engaging in a spirited back-and-forth. It's worth noting, however, that Trump's comments were made in the context of his recent trip to Eastern Europe, where he has been touting the benefits of better relations with Russia.
While opinions on Trump's claims are sure to vary widely, it's clear that this exchange will be one for the history books.
