Mexico’s Sheinbaum says had 'good conversation' with Trump on security, drugs

News out of Mexico City is sparking interest among politics enthusiasts and international relations scholars alike: Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico's Secretary of Education and the head of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's inner circle, has confirmed that she held a phone call with none other than former US President Donald Trump.

The conversation, which took place on Tuesday evening, reportedly centered around matters of security cooperation between the two countries. According to Sheinbaum, the discussion was "productive" and focused on the shared concerns of both nations regarding rising crime rates and the escalating violence along their shared border.

Sheinbaum also touched on another sensitive topic: the issue of narco-trafficking. The Secretary revealed that Trump expressed his willingness to engage in a more collaborative effort with Mexico to combat this pressing concern, citing the need for a more coordinated approach to tackling organized crime groups operating across the border.

While details are still scarce, it seems that both sides are eager to build on the momentum generated by their conversation. The development is seen as a welcome sign of cooperation and collaboration between two nations that have often found themselves at odds in recent years.
