Mamdani roasted for ‘idiotic and moronic’ warning on NYC snowstorm
City officials are under fire after a bizarre warning about the upcoming NYC snowstorm was blasted as "idiotic" and "moronic". Dr. Naeem Mamdani, Director of Emergency Management at NYC's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, sent out an email to staff advising them to avoid the streets during the storm due to high winds.
However, his warning took an unusual turn when he mentioned that strong gusts could knock over trash cans. This claim has been met with ridicule on social media, with many calling for his resignation.
"I'm not sure what's more alarming - the fact that Dr. Mamdani thinks trash cans are a bigger threat than snowdrifts or the fact that he sent an email at all," tweeted one New Yorker.
The Storm So Far:
- National Weather Service predicts up to 2 feet of snow in NYC
- Wind gusts of up to 30mph expected, with some areas reaching 40mph
- Traffic disruptions and power outages possible
