Macy’s to Close Stores Across 12 States in Early 2026: Which Locations Are Shutting Down?

Get ready for some significant changes in the retail landscape, folks! After years of navigating the ups and downs of the market, Macy's is planning to close stores across 12 states in early 2026. This move is part of a larger effort by the company to revamp its operations and focus on e-commerce.

So, which locations are affected? The closures will take place in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas. Macy's has already begun notifying employees about the changes, but no official dates have been announced for when the stores will actually close.

As you can imagine, this news may be a concern for shoppers who rely on these physical locations. But don't worry – with more people shopping online than ever before, Macy's is shifting its focus to digital channels and investing in new e-commerce platforms. This might just give them an edge over the competition.
