How much snow is expected on Sunday? Model potentials, forecast predictions point to major storm

This weekend's weather outlook is looking increasingly gloomy for many parts of the country, with a powerful storm system moving into the region and promising significant snowfall totals.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm watches and warnings across several states, indicating that heavy snow is expected to develop over the next 24 hours. According to forecast models, the worst of it will likely occur on Sunday, when a swath of intense precipitation is expected to sweep across the country.

• Heavy snowfall rates are predicted to reach up to 1-2 inches per hour in some areas
• Over 6 inches of snow is possible in some regions, with totals potentially reaching upwards of a foot or more in some spots
• The storm system is expected to bring hazardous travel conditions and power outages due to the weight of the snow on trees and power lines

While it's too early to say for certain exactly how much snow will fall, one thing is clear: this storm has the potential to be a major player in your weekend plans.
