How much snow is expected on Sunday? Here's what the models show so far

As winter weather continues to grip the country, many of you are likely wondering how much snow will fall this weekend. We've taken a closer look at the latest forecast models to give you an idea of what's in store.

Currently, the National Weather Service is predicting significant snowfall for parts of the Midwest and Northeast, with some areas expected to see upwards of 6-8 inches by Sunday evening. However, other regions are looking at much lighter totals, so it really depends on where you live.

We've compiled a list of the top models being used by meteorologists to forecast this weekend's snowfall:

• The European Model (ECM) is showing heaviest snowfall in the Midwest and Ohio Valley
• The GFS model suggests lighter totals, with most areas seeing less than 4 inches
• The Canadian Model is predicting a mixed bag, with some areas seeing significant snow while others see little to no accumulation

Keep in mind that these models are subject to change as new data becomes available, so it's always a good idea to check the latest forecast from your local NWS office for the most up-to-date information.
