Home Depot copies Walmart with decision consumers won't like

Home improvement fans are in an uproar after Home Depot announced a new policy that's got many feeling frustrated. The big-box retailer has decided to follow in Walmart's footsteps by introducing a change to their return and exchange policies.

• Customers can no longer return or exchange items after 90 days
• No more free returns on online orders - customers will have to pay for shipping both ways
• No exchanges on final sale items, which now include a lot of seasonal products and holiday decorations

While these changes may help Home Depot cut costs in the short term, they're not likely to go over well with consumers who are used to having more flexibility when making purchases. Many people rely on the ability to return or exchange items after 90 days, especially during holidays and special events.

We've all been there - you buy a gift for someone only to realize it's the wrong size or color. Or maybe you decide that new kitchen appliance isn't what you wanted after all. Having the option to return or exchange items gives consumers peace of mind and helps prevent buyer's remorse.

It's worth noting that this change in policy is likely a direct result of Walmart's own changes earlier this year. It remains to be seen whether other big-box retailers will follow suit, but one thing's for sure - consumers won't like it if they do.
