General Motors Engineers Get Honest About EV Driving After Epic US Roadtrip
Last week, a team of engineers from General Motors embarked on an incredible journey - driving their electric vehicles over 5,000 miles across the United States to identify and resolve some of the most frustrating issues plaguing EV owners.
The GM team set out with a clear mission: to understand firsthand what drivers encounter when switching from gas-guzzlers to electric. And boy, did they get an earful!
What Did They Find?
- Road noise and vibrations were top complaints among EV owners.
- Range anxiety was real, but not as bad as expected - once the drivers got into a routine of charging their vehicles, they reported feeling more confident in their electric roadtrippers' abilities.
- Heat management was another area where GM engineers found room for improvement. Drivers often complained about slow heating and cooling times in EVs compared to gas-powered vehicles.
"We were surprised by how few issues we encountered," said one of the team members, "but at the same time, we realized that even small problems can have a big impact on the driving experience." The GM engineers concluded that it's often the little things - like noise levels or temperature control - that make or break an EV owner's satisfaction.
