Frustrated customer calls out Target after discovering sneaky tactic at local store: 'These companies assume consumers are stupid'

A recent shopper's experience has left many wondering about the tactics some retailers use to sell their products. A frustrated customer took to social media to share a shocking discovery made during a recent trip to Target.

According to the customer, they visited their local Target store and noticed that several items had been "relocated" from their usual shelves to different sections of the store. What caught their attention was that these relocated products were still displayed at their original price, but with new signs indicating that they were now part of a "clearance sale" or a "limited-time offer."

The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed outrage over what they perceive as an attempt by Target to deceive customers into buying the same products at discounted prices. "These companies assume consumers are stupid," they wrote on social media.

What's really going on?

• The practice of relocating products and displaying them as part of a sale is not uncommon in the retail industry.
• This tactic, also known as "inventory manipulation," allows retailers to make room for new inventory without actually reducing prices or clearing out old stock.
• It's up to consumers to stay informed and vigilant when shopping, especially during holiday sales or special promotions.

Stay ahead of the game

For those looking to avoid falling prey to such tactics, consider using price comparison tools or apps that can help you track prices and detect any discrepancies. Additionally, staying informed about store policies and practices can also go a long way in making smart purchasing decisions.
