Fed's Powell Says Trump Administration Threatened Him With Indictment

Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, made a shocking revelation during an interview this week. According to Powell, he was threatened with a criminal indictment by the Trump administration in 2019. This is a bombshell that has left many in the financial world stunned.

The alleged threat came after Powell raised interest rates, which had been seen as a move to combat inflation. However, it's not clear whether this move was directly linked to the threat. What is clear is that this kind of interference from the administration could have serious implications for monetary policy and the independence of the Fed.

This isn't the first time there's been tension between the Trump administration and Powell. In 2018, the President publicly criticized the Chairman, calling him "incompetent" after he raised interest rates. This kind of public pressure can be damaging to the reputation of the Fed and undermine trust in the financial system.

So what does this mean for the future of monetary policy? It's too early to tell, but it's clear that the independence of the Fed is under threat. We'll be keeping a close eye on developments as this story continues to unfold.
