Exclusive: The Trump Administration Killed a Draft Proposal to Halve Alcohol Limits, Sources Say

The Trump administration made headlines recently with its proposed cuts to various government programs and agencies. However, there's another story that hasn't received as much attention - the alleged shelving of a draft proposal to lower the blood-alcohol limit from 0.08% to 0.04%. According to sources within the White House, this plan was never brought up for discussion or consideration.

While details about the proposed limits are still unclear, experts believe that reducing the BAC threshold could have had significant consequences for public safety on the roads. Some also speculate that it might have had a negative impact on certain industries like hospitality and tourism.

Why Lowering the Blood-Alcohol Limit Might Not Have Been Such a Good Idea

• Limited scientific basis: Several studies suggest that a lower BAC limit would not necessarily reduce accidents or fatalities on the road. In fact, some research indicates that stricter laws might have unintended consequences.
• Impact on businesses: Lowering the blood-alcohol limit could lead to increased financial burdens for bars and restaurants, potentially causing job losses in an already vulnerable industry.

While the proposal's fate is now certain, it raises questions about government policies and their effects on various sectors. The incident also highlights the need for evidence-based decision-making when tackling complex issues like public safety.
