Elon Musk Wins Long-Running Pay Package Dispute

A Delaware judge has ruled in favor of Elon Musk, restoring his $139 billion pay package that was awarded to him in 2018 as part of his compensation deal with Tesla.

The pay package was put on hold by a Delaware judge in 2021 after a shareholder lawsuit claimed that the company's board of directors had misled investors about the potential payout. The decision marked one of the largest disputes between a CEO and shareholders in corporate history.

Under the terms of his compensation deal, Musk is eligible to receive up to $50 billion more if Tesla meets certain performance targets. While the ruling clears the way for the payment to be made, it's unclear whether Tesla will meet the necessary conditions to trigger additional payments.
