Could it snow in Houston this weekend? Arctic blast to plunge temperatures

Houston, get ready for a chilly dose of reality! A powerful arctic blast is sweeping across the country, and Texas is right in its crosshairs. The National Weather Service has issued wind chill advisories and winter weather alerts for several parts of the state, including the Houston area.

According to forecast models, temperatures will plummet this weekend, with some areas expected to see lows in the mid-20s. Yes, you read that right - 20s! That's a far cry from the balmy temperatures we've grown accustomed to in recent weeks.

What does this mean for Houston?

• Frosty mornings: Expect temps to dip below freezing, with potential frost advisories issued for some areas.
• Snowflakes? Maybe: Although it's still a long shot, there's a slight chance of scattered snow showers in the region. We wouldn't rule out a light dusting!
• Chilly commutes: Be prepared for icy roads and potentially hazardous travel conditions.
