Costco Shoplifting Couple Arrested Amid Bizarre Liquor Stash

A Sacramento couple's attempt to score a deal on liquor backfired when deputies caught them red-handed stashing multiple bottles of booze from a local Costco store.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening when a witness reported seeing the pair, identified as 32-year-old Michael Johnson and 34-year-old Tiffany Jones, loading their car with various spirits. Deputies arrived at the scene to find the couple in possession of several bottles of liquor, including whiskey, tequila, and rum.

According to authorities, the duo claimed they were planning a party and had purchased the liquor for that purpose. However, deputies noted that the quantities found exceeded reasonable amounts for personal consumption.

The pair was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting and is currently facing charges. It's unclear whether the couple has retained an attorney to represent them in court.
