Consumer Reports unveils 10 best and worst car brands for 2026

Are you in the market for a new ride? Consumer Reports has just released its annual list of the top and bottom-performing car brands, giving us a glimpse into what to expect from the automotive world in 2026.

We took a closer look at the rankings, and here are some highlights:

• Toyota takes the top spot for the second year in a row, with many of its models receiving high praise for their reliability and overall performance.
• Lexus also made the cut as one of the best brands, with its luxury vehicles impressing critics with their comfort and advanced features.
• On the other end of the spectrum, Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) ranked last, with many of its models struggling with poor reliability and outdated technology.

The list highlights a clear divide between car brands that are prioritizing innovation and those that seem stuck in neutral. For example:

• Mercedes-Benz made significant strides in 2026, thanks to the introduction of its new line of electric vehicles.
• Meanwhile, Ford's reputation took a hit due to ongoing issues with its Sync infotainment system.
