CNN Data Guru Predicts Huge ‘Shocker’ In Midterm Fight

Just a week before election day, CNN's data guru predicts that a huge "shocker" is on the horizon for the midterms. According to Nate Silver, who has made a name for himself by accurately forecasting election results, a major surprise could change the course of history.

The Surprise Factor

• What kind of surprise are we talking about? It's too early to say exactly, but it could involve an upset in a crucial Senate or House race.
• Silver points out that many polls have been off the mark so far this cycle. "I don't think people appreciate just how uncertain our predictions really are," he said.

The Importance of Data Analysis

As anyone who's followed Silver knows, data analysis is key to predicting election outcomes. We're not sure what the big surprise will be yet, but one thing is clear: a little bit of data can go a long way.

A Closer Look at Key States

• Some of the most competitive states in the country include Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. These three could decide the outcome of the election.
• Other key battlegrounds to watch include Arizona, Texas, and Colorado.
