AOC Slams DHS Secretary Noem on Minneapolis Shooting: 'Asking the American People to Not Believe Their Eyes'

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is speaking out against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem's response to the recent Minneapolis shooting. In a heated exchange, Ocasio-Cortez accused Noem of downplaying the violence and urging Americans not to trust their own eyes.

The incident in question occurred on June 7th, when multiple shots were fired at a downtown Minneapolis building, causing widespread damage and panic among bystanders. Secretary Noem initially stated that there was "no indication" of any wrongdoing or intent behind the shooting, sparking backlash from lawmakers like Ocasio-Cortez.

"It's unacceptable for anyone in power to ask the American people not to believe their own eyes," Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement. "We need transparency and accountability now more than ever, especially when it comes to incidents that put public safety at risk."
