Another Incredibly Idiotic Story': Jake Tapper Can’t Believe Trump Officials Reportedly Told FEMA Not To Say ‘Ice’ Amid Winter Storm

CNN's Jake Tapper is known for his sharp tongue and quick wit, but even he seems stunned by a recent report out of Washington. According to sources, Trump officials reportedly instructed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) not to use the word "ice" when discussing the winter storm that's been crippling parts of the country.

Tapper took to Twitter to express his incredulity at the news, saying "Another incredibly idiotic story..." He went on to say, "Can't believe it. The Trump administration's attempt to control language and spin reality is a new low."

The report suggests that FEMA officials were told not to use the word "ice" in official communications because of its perceived negative connotations. Instead, they were instructed to refer to the weather conditions as a "winter storm" or a "freeze event." It's unclear what impact this directive had on disaster response efforts.

Tapper's tweetstorm went on to ask, "What is the point of having a free press if not to expose absurdities like this?" He also pointed out that this isn't the first time Trump officials have been accused of trying to control language and messaging.

Why Does it Matter?

While it may seem like a minor detail, the use of certain words can have significant implications in disaster response efforts. Clear communication is crucial for emergency responders and the public alike. By downplaying the severity of the situation with carefully chosen language, officials may be inadvertently putting people's lives at risk.
