American Airlines pilot shared screenshot of salary — and people’s jaws are on the floor

When you think of being a commercial airline pilot, you probably imagine the glamour of flying around the world, navigating through treacherous skies, and enjoying the perks that come with the job. But how much do pilots really make? Recently, an American Airlines pilot shared a screenshot of their monthly salary on social media, and it's sending shockwaves across the internet.

According to the post, the pilot earns a whopping $24,000 per month. To put that into perspective, that's around $288,000 per year before taxes! While this is likely an outlier, even the median salary for airline pilots in the US can range from $60,000 to over $100,000 depending on experience and seniority.

Of course, being a pilot comes with its own set of challenges. Long hours, time away from family, and exposure to turbulence (literally) are just a few of the downsides. But for those who love flying and aren't afraid of the occasional in-flight meal of mystery meat, this job might be the ticket.
