Abandoned Southern California Mall Overrun by Vandals; 402 Police Calls Since October

Imagine a once-thriving shopping center, now abandoned and left to decay. Unfortunately for residents of Torrance, California, that's the reality of the Del Amo Fashion Center. The mall has been plagued by vandalism since it closed in 2017, with reports of broken windows, stolen property, and safety concerns.

According to recent data, there have been a staggering 402 police calls to the abandoned mall since October alone. That's an average of nearly three incidents per day! Law enforcement officials have expressed frustration over the situation, citing difficulty in identifying perpetrators due to the lack of security cameras.

The city has considered various solutions, including installing additional security measures and increasing patrols. However, some argue that a more comprehensive approach is needed to revitalize the area and address underlying issues such as poverty and unemployment.

• Residents have taken to social media to express their concerns about safety and the need for a long-term solution.
• The city has proposed various initiatives, including job training programs and community outreach efforts.
