Abandoned SoCal Mall Overrun by Vandals: 402 Police Calls Since October

The once-thriving Desert Rose Mall in Southern California has become a hotbed of crime and vandalism, with authorities receiving an astonishing 402 calls for service since October last year.

Located in the desert town of Victorville, the mall's eerie landscape is dotted with shattered glass, trash-filled corridors, and debris-strewn storefronts. The chaos has prompted local residents to voice concerns about public safety and the impact on nearby businesses.

The situation took a turn for the worse when vandals set fire to several vacant stores, causing significant damage to the mall's structure and forcing authorities to evacuate the area temporarily.

Why is this happening?

• Funding cuts have left the city struggling to maintain public spaces and provide adequate security measures
• The mall has been closed since 2017, leaving it vulnerable to trespassing and vandalism
• Lack of community engagement and outreach programs has contributed to the decline of the area
