61-year-old sandwich chain quietly shuts nearly 2,000 shops

A beloved American institution has bitten the dust – or rather, gone dark without much fanfare. Arby's, a 61-year-old fast-food chain famous for its roast beef sandwiches and curly fries, has been quietly closing locations at an alarming rate.

According to recent reports, nearly 2,000 Arby's shops have shut their doors in the past few years, leaving many wondering what went wrong. The company, which was founded in Boardman, Ohio back in 1964, had once boasted over 3,700 locations worldwide.

Industry insiders point to changing consumer habits and increasing competition from newer fast-food chains as major factors contributing to Arby's decline. With the rise of online ordering and delivery services, consumers are increasingly seeking convenient and affordable meal options that can be easily ordered from their phones or tablets – a trend that has left some traditional brick-and-mortar restaurants struggling to adapt.
